The Experiences
Bush Bush Wildlife Sanctuary
Bush Bush island is a sandy, forested island within the Nariva Swamp, the largest freshwater wetland in Trinidad and Tobago that has been designated a Wetland of International Importance under the Ramsar Convention. Nariva Swamp is located on the east coast of Trinidad, immediately inland from Manzanilla Bay and covers over 60 square kilometres (23 mi2). An extremely biodiverse area, Nariva Swamp is home to 45 mammal species, 39 reptile species, 33 fish species, 204 bird species, 19 frog species, 213 insect species, and 15 mollusc species.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Duration: Approximately 8-10 hours (depending on traffic).
- This experience involves hiking and kayaking. Life vests will be provided.
- Bring a swimsuit and wear comfortable (long sleeves/pants) clothing and shoes. You should also pack a change of clothing and Ziploc bags to protect your phone/camera gear.
- Bring a hat for shade, beach mat, and mosquito repellent.
- Camera with long lens recommended.
- *There will be an additional cost for lunch.
Kayaking in the Caroni Bird Sanctuary
Caroni Bird Sanctuary
Home to over 100 bird species, the Caroni Swamp is a 12,000 acre wildlife sanctuary and is home to one of Trinidad and Tobago’s national birds, the Scarlet Ibis.
We'll head out after lunch and start our kayaking adventure at 3:00 pm. We'll spend the afternoon exploring the mangrove-lined canals as our guide points out the different birds and animal species that inhabit the swamp. We'll finish our tour at sunset, as we watch the Scarlet Ibis and other species return from their feeding grounds to roost for the night.. We'll then be met by a flat-bottomed boat, which will take us back to the starting point.

- PLEASE NOTE: A part of this tour involves kayaking and getting on a flat-bottomed boat.

- Bring a hat for shade and mosquito repellent for the Bird Sanctuary tour.
- Camera with a good long lens or binoculars recommended for the Bird Sanctuary tour.
- *There will be an additional cost for lunch.
Paria Bay & Waterfall
We'll start off early with a scenic drive along the north coast road to the village of Blanchisseuse where we'll catch a pirogue (fishing boat) to Paria Bay. Depending on the weather and river conditions, we'll visit the Paria Waterfall and walk to the far end of the beach to take in the natural formation known as Cathedral Rock.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Duration: Approximately six hours (depending on traffic)
- PLEASE NOTE: A part of this tour involves getting on a pirogue or fishing boat. There may be some waves to navigate,
- Wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Don't forget your swimsuit!
- Bring a hat for shade and mosquito repellent for the hike to the waterfall.
Turtle Watching and Point Galera Lighthouse, Toco
On the last day of the tour, we'll head out after lunch to Toco, which marks the northeastern tip of Trinidad. We'll stop for a sea bath at Salybia and, later on, we'll visit the Toco Lighthouse, which was constructed in 1897. The lighthouse sits at Galera Point, which affords a close-up view of massive waves crashing against of the rocky coast. After taking in the sunset, we'll head back down to Matura where, during nesting months (March-August), endangered leatherback turtles come ashore at night to lay their eggs.
